Dear Rector Victor Antonovich Sadovnichy,
The Lomonosov Moscow State University still practises vivisection.
I herewith politely insist that you grant every student the right to refuse taking part in animal experiments on moral grounds.
I learned from the Internet that you do not respect this right. You eliminate students if they act according to their conscience.
This is in contradiction with the Charter of the MSU which requires students to observe ethical norms.
Surely vivisection, this disrespect of animal lives and welfare, this practice which we can even call plain animal torture , overrides the ethical norms of modern society.
As you may know, vivisection is worldwide questioned by people on moral grounds. So I would even call for a total ban of all animal experimentation at the Moscow State University.
Please do rethink the matter urgently and take an ethical decision by
a) fully respecting a student’s freedom of conscience
b) using nowadays alternatives and stop all animal experiments, this worthless, useless and objectionable animal cruelty .
